Mason Isom

Executive Director

Mason holds an M.A. in Religious Studies from Claremont Graduate University and a B.A. in Anthropology from BYU–Hawaiʻi, with additional certifications in intercultural peacebuilding and cultural resource management.

With over 15 years of experience in youth and young adult development, wilderness therapy, behavioral health, and education, Mason has dedicated his career to helping young people and families grow, heal, and thrive. He has guided programs in wilderness education, behavioral health, professional sports, higher education, and faith-based youth development. His international work has included projects in Mexico, India, Israel/Palestine, and Zimbabwe, where he helped design and implement initiatives that strengthened communities and expanded opportunities for young people.

At Pacific Quest, Mason brings together his expertise in wilderness therapy, intercultural peacebuilding, and educational leadership with a deep commitment to the healing power of nature and community. He is especially inspired by Pacific Quest’s unique model of blending clinical care with experiential learning, where young people can rediscover their strengths and families can find renewed hope.

Mason is known for his collaborative leadership style, focus on building strong teams, and his ability to educate and inspire. He is passionate about mentoring staff, empowering students, and cultivating a culture where growth and healing are possible for all.

Mason and his wife, Darlene, live in Hilo with their three sons. He enjoys serving in his community, exploring Hawaiʻi’s outdoors, and coaching his son’s baseball team.
