Girl on the Edge is an award-winning film based on a true story of a young woman’s journey of healing and reconnection. The film was inspired by the family’s journey at Pacific Quest and Uinta Academy. Director/Producer, and Pacific Quest and Uinta Academy alumni father, Jay Silverman, aims to raise awareness around the issues teens face today, and the impactful role that outdoor therapeutic wilderness and residential programs can play in a young person’s life. Jay highlights his personal family experience of overcoming fear and maintaining persistence while addressing difficult family issues. Jay’s daughter, Cora is now a thriving PQ and Uinta Academy alumni attending college in Northern California. This film has won numerous awards at film festivals around the country and is a MUST SEE.
Prior to the film screening (5:00 p.m.), Pacific Quest and Uinta Academy will host a dessert reception for alumni parents and students, friends, area professionals and colleagues. The reception will be held at the Mayan Theater. We encourage you to bring your friends and join us early for the reception and then stay to enjoy the premiere screening of Girl on the Edge. There will be a Question and Answer session with the film’s Director, Jay Silverman, immediately following the film.
This event will also be an important fundraising opportunity for Sky’s the Limit Foundation (STLF), a non profit entity dedicated to raising money to help kids access wilderness therapy programs throughout the country. STLF makes it possible for families to participate in programs such as Pacific Quest, who would not otherwise be able to afford this type of care. Learn more about Sky’s the Limit Fund.
We would like to promote Girl on the Edge and STLF around the country. We need your help! If you are a dedicated alumni parent who is interested bringing this film to your area, please contact Mike Sullivan to discuss details. Your help in promoting screenings will ultimately raise awareness, allowing young people to access the help they need.
