Dr. Shelley Elizabeth Ham earned her BA from Rutgers University (Cook College). She received her MD from St. Louis University School of Medicine, and then worked as a Psychiatric Care Counselor for St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Dr. Ham moved to Hawaii in 1996 and served as Community Psychiatrist, then Clinical Director for East Hawaii Community Mental Health Center. She also worked as a Psychiatrist for Helping Hands Hawaii, Children’s Comprehensive Services and CareHawaii.

Since 2000, Dr. Ham also served as Examiner for Office of the Public Defender and is currently Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii, where she worked since 1996, as Chief Resident / Clinical Instructor and Assistant Professor. Dr. Ham is also Clinical Director and staff psychiatrist for The Phoenix Center, Inc. She has been the recipient of the Pfizer Resident of the Year Award, the Ginsberg Fellowship at The Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry and the Outstanding Clinical Professor, University of Hawai’i, John A. Burns School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Ham is available to Pacific Quest on an “on-call” basis. She is a good match for our progressive approach and assists us in evaluating the psychiatric needs and treatment of our students.
