Martha Bouchard, MS
Martha began working with youth as a teacher and Residential Director in educational programs in the late 1990′s. Martha joined the Pacific Quest team in 2005 after leaving a position at a residential treatment center where she had the privilege of designing and implementing an experiential program for the young men in her care. Martha’s leadership and “big picture thinking” skills quickly afforded her the opportunity to influence the direction of the development of the Pacific Quest curriculum and program design.
In 2007, Martha embarked on a course of graduate study focusing on environmental psychology. She traversed four unique bioregions in an intentional learning community where she developed and implemented localized, experiential and contemplative curriculum models, and studied council practice in many cultures. Martha’s choice to return to Pacific Quest in 2009 brought the program a seasoned guide with a reputation for dedicated integrity in every position she has filled: running outings and Rites of Passage programming, directing the Adolescent Program for two years, to her current position as Operations Director, where she challenges herself and others to continue their personal and professional growth, no matter their position. Returning to Hawaii after graduate studies came easily. The island had quickly become home when Martha first arrived in ‘05 and she knew she would be back to the ocean and the lava in short order. In the times between yoga, swimming, reading, and her work at Pacific Quest, Martha explores the island with her partner and their dogs.
