FACILITIES AND SAFETY SUPERVISOR
Nolan Makuakane, BS
Nolan is a native of Ka’u and graduated from Kamehameha Secondary School Kapalama Campus – a boarding high school on the island of Oah’u. He earned a BS in Agriculture from the University of Hawaii at Hilo – College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM). While pursuing his degree, Nolan was employed at the University’s Agriculture Farm, where he cultivated the land and maintained the health of the livestock.
Prior to being employed at Pacific Quest, Nolan completed multiple reforestation projects, which included planting Koa tree seedlings on designated properties. He also worked on the removal of ungulates and invasive exotic plants in the native forest. In addition, Nolan has also served as a case manager and helped families seek and maintain employment to become self-sufficient.
Nolan has been employed with the PQ Logistics Department for over 5 years. He enjoys seeing the progress of the students at Pacific Quest. Although students are here for only a short period of time, he is impressed by the change, growth and development from the time they arrive until their departure.
Outside of work, Nolan enjoys spending time with family and friends. He likes being out in the elements of nature hunting, fishing, and throwing net at the beach. He has also coached youth sports t-ball, coach-pitch and pop-warner in his community.
