Kristen Hale, LCSW
Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW who earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2004 and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Kristen graduated with honors and served as a liaison on the school(s) Social Work Advisory Board. Kristen has also been an adjunct college professor at New Mexico Highlands University and the University of Denver in their graduate school of social work programs for several years, teaching up and coming social workers to be the best in their field.
Kristen has a wide breadth of knowledge in the treatment of mental health issues. Kristen has practiced across the life span from early childhood through the elder years with over 10 years of experience working specifically with adolescents and young adults with social and emotional issues and their families. Kristen has used her talents to help children and families in many settings including outpatient mental health, home based family therapy, schools and wilderness-based treatment as a therapist as well as a clinical supervisor.
Kristen is certified in EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Kristen is practiced in Family Systems, Applied Behavior Analyses and has completed all course work to become a Certified Addictions Counselor. Kristen also has a love for using creative therapies as a way of self-expression and has completed training in art, play and sand tray therapy. Kristen’s area of clinical expertise includes trauma related conditions, depression, anxiety, self-harm, substance use and acting out behavioral problems.
Kristen approaches therapy by building trusting and authentic relationships that allow for change to unfold. She puts emphasis on empowering young people to be their best by recognizing their innate potential and helping them access their inner wisdom to overcome obstacles and make healthy choices. Kristen believes in the importance of effective communication as a tool for fostering forgiveness and understanding. Kristen is skilled at teaching emotion regulation skills and coaching youth to express their needs and wants in beneficial ways. Kristen strongly believes in the ability of the human spirit to be healed and transformed in an environment that promotes holistic wellness and connection with both humans and the natural world, which is what attracted her to join Pacific Quest.
Kristen enjoys hiking, music, growing and cooking healthy foods, and all water related activities, which makes living on an island pretty great. Kristen is proud to have successfully launched two amazing daughters into adult life, one whom is living in Hawaii working on an organic farm, the other living in Colorado pursuing college and enjoying life in the mountains.
