Assistant Resident Supervisor / All Pacific Quest Sites

Primary Purpose:

Provide relief/support and coverage to the Program Supervisors and Lead Guides. The position by its nature is a residential shift and may require being “on-call” 24 hours a day while working and staying at the facility, as well as spending time in the various groups/camps. Flexibility is key as the majority of the position responsibilities are field support and risk management, and dictated by events in the groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn Program Supervisor position and cover that role as needed to allow for breaks, time off, etc., including:
    • Understand, manage, and facilitate each student’s weekly outcomes, safety plans and medical, wellness plans and medication self administration; Monitor residence / program guide / student / logistical) risk management
    • Work closely with the Wellness Team to oversee proper implementation and documentation of the Pacific Quest medication self administration and wellness programming
    • Know and support use of student curriculum including role modeling effective lesson planning and facilitation
    • Ensure that field documentation is thorough and complete in a timely fashion – including system documentation, student observations, incident reports, and other essential documentation
  • Utilize sound judgement and make safe decisions in order to respond quickly and appropriately to crisis and emergencies
  • Program Guide growth and development
    • Work with Field Manager to improve training program and co-facilitate new guide trainings as needed
    • Spend the majority of the time in the field observing and role modeling Program Guides to assist in their development
    • Facilitate 90-day reviews under direction of Field Manager and make recommendations for advancement or continued training needs accordingly
    • Provide additional administrative support to Field Manager in tracking Guide growth books and Guide development
  • Work with Program Guides to prepare lessons and trainings regarding Horticultural Therapy, Rites of Passage, Whole Person Wellness, Healthy Community Living, and Individual Clinical Care
  • Outings
    • Lead outings when necessary
  • Work in field as Lead Guide as directed and when necessary

Additional Duties:

  • Fill in as needed for logistical and field needs, which could include working in the field as a Guide
  • Participate in the review process at the 90-day, 6-month, and 1-year marks
  • Work closely with Field Managers to manage self-care while on shift
  • Additional duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Industry experience and experience working with adolescents of a similar population
  • Experience in supervision and able to work with students in crisis
  • Experience with crisis prevention
  • Professional experience with one of our Guiding Principles – HT, ROP, Wellness, Clinical Care, Community Living.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Preferred age 25 or older in order to meet Company auto insurance requirements
  • Current CPR certification from a classroom training and First Aid certification. Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid are not acceptable substitutions for First Aid certification.
  • Maintain current CPI certification, as well as assist CPI instructor with training courses
  • Basic computer skills
  • Requires ability to be a team player, to form mutually respectful relationship with staff and students to grow professionally in meeting the challenges of this position

  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and drug screen
  • Requires annual physical and TB clearance

Work Hours:

  • On-call status 24 hours a day per shift
  • This position is generally 4 days on 3 days off, working the typical Program Supervisor hours However, the primary goal of this position is to prepare for eventual advancement into the Program Supervisor position and as such, this role requires flexibility in scheduling. You will work 8 days per pay period.
  • While promotion to Program Supervisor position is intended with this role, this is not guaranteed and there is no clear timeline for this advancement if it does happen
  • You may be required to work holidays in this role
