PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Mike McKinney, BA Political Science

Mike earned his BA from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. After a career as a Sales Manager for a medical supply company, he created and ran Creation Design Group, a successful advertising agency. In 1998, looking for further meaning in his work, he began his position with at-risk students at a wilderness program in Idaho. There he discovered his passion for inspiring adolescents and met his wife, Suzanne. Mike later added to his experience with adolescents as Director of the Trails program at Oakley School and Admissions Director at Coral Reef Academy. In 2004 he and his family moved to Hawaii, realizing Mike’s dream to serve children and their families in this unique setting. He is married with two young boys and enjoys fishing, camping, water sports and spending time with his family.

ACADEMIC and PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR
Suzanne McKinney, MA Special Education
Suzanne earned her BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Masters degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University. She worked as an elementary school teacher and private tutor for six years in the Bay Area. In 1999, she moved to Idaho and began work at a wilderness program in Idaho as Director of Continuing Care, and met her husband, Mike. After moving to Utah, Suzanne worked as an independent educational consultant working with students and families around the country in assessment and placement. Suzanne and Mike moved their family to Hawaii in 2004 to run Pacific Quest. In her current role, she supervises the curriculum and any academic components, and works to spread the word to and care for our wide ranged clientele. Suzanne has two boys, ages 4 and 6, and enjoys travel, art, yoga, reading and spending time with her family.

 THERAPEUTIC DIRECTOR
Anthony (Toby) Mautz, MSW, LCSW
Toby has a BA in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College. After working for a nonprofit Residential Treatment Center for two years in the Boston area, he moved to Salt Lake City where he worked on a grant for the public school system. Toby then served as a primary therapist at a residential treatment center and wilderness program in Utah and went on to become Clinical Director at 2003. Most recently Toby served as Director of Clinical Services for an educational consulting firm, coordinating student and family treatment services. Toby brings years of clinical and managerial experience and sophistication to Pacific Quest’s team. His enthusiasm and innovativeness is a good match for our progressive approach and unique environment.

 THERAPIST
Hilary Moses, MSW, LCSW
Hilary is an LCSW with over eight years of experience working with adolescents and families in many different settings. She earned her MSW from Bryn Mawr, Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research in Pennsylvania. She spent four years working for a wilderness program in Idaho, initially as a Field Instructor, then as a Therapist and finally as the Clinical Director. Many come to Hilary for direct, honest, clear communication and her positive results with family systems and student relationships. Hilary’s strong work ethic and integrity are an integral part of the counseling department at PQ. In her free time, Hilary enjoys team sports, surfing, and spending time with friends.

 THERAPIST
Mary Beth Coffman, MSW, LCSW
Mary Beth received her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno and her Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Utah. She comes to Pacific Quest from a wilderness program in Utah, where after serving as an intern and a field guide, she held the position of Primary Therapist for adolescents and then young adults for two years. Before that, Mary Beth served as an intern at a Residential Treatment Center in Utah where she trained in DBT Therapy and Chemical Dependency. At PQ, Mary Beth has led the creation and implementation of the Parent Program and Manual, an integral part the PQ experience. Mary Beth brings experience with an older student population, and strong intuitiveness in assessing PQ students. She has become an avid surfer, and enjoys running, biking and spending time with friends.

 THERAPIST
Mike Sullivan, MA
Mike completed his BS and BA from the University of Washington, Seattle in biology and environmental studies. His fascination with the wild and natural environment lead him to field instructing at a wilderness therapy program in Idaho, where he developed a passion for working with adolescents. Mike honed his interpersonal skills during his field instructing days, nurturing his talent in connecting with teens. Inspired by the power of experiential therapy in the desert of Idaho, Mike went on to earn his Masters of Arts in Psychology at Seattle University. During his final year of study, he interned as an individual and family therapist at a community mental health clinic. Mike worked closely with youth, adolescents, and families from a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic classes. Concurrently, Mike mentored adolescents in a home-based transition program, focused on supporting teens in their transition home after attending therapeutic programs and schools. Mike brings compassion, willingness, and openness to his work at PQ. Mike's favorite hobbies include alpine climbing, bicycle touring, and snorkeling.

 WELLNESS DIRECTOR Dr. Britta Zimmer, ND
Dr. Britta Zimmer is a licensed Naturopathic Physician, who received her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and her doctorate from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Zimmer completed a comprehensive Naturopathic Family Practice Residency in Portland Oregon which included extensive work at Outside In, a community clinic providing health care for at risk youth. Before moving to Hawaii, Dr. Zimmer, was part of a group practice in Portland Oregon specializing in general family practice medicine, women’s health issues and adolescent health care. While living in Portland, Dr. Zimmer was adjunct faculty at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine. She is a licensed physician in the states of Hawaii and Oregon. Naturopathic Physicians (N.D.s) are trained to serve as primary care practitioners who are experts in the prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment of both acute and chronic health conditions. Her goal is for the students at PQ is to feel empowered and inspired to take control of their own health by learning about nutrition, the healing arts, and how their body works. Dr. Zimmer enjoys teaching, yoga, exercising, cooking and spending time with her husband and 2 year old daughter.

 OFFICE MANAGER
Cyndi Desha
Cyndi joined Pacific Quest this summer in the much awaited and needed position of Office Manager. Cyndi was an office manager for a prominent retail store for six years before moving into managing a pediatrician's office in Hilo for another six years. After a year as a preschool teacher, she has returned to the office setting to help keep us all organized and running smoothly. Cyndi is a native of Maui and lives in Hilo with her husband, and daughter, Lacie. Cyndi enjoys kickboxing, fishing, camping and gardening.
